My working life has been in Universities as a Finance Director, COO and University Secretary. In the latter role I was responsible for governance at City, University of London. I have served two terms on the HEFCE audit committee and acted as Committee Chair and Deputy Chair of Governors for London South East Colleges.
I am now acting as a consultant covering governance – working as a consulting fellow for the Halpin Partnership Ltd but also occasionally as an independent consultant. I have been involved in some significant University governance team reviews including Bath & Sussex but also have worked by myself on reviews at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Cardiff Metropolitan University & AECC University College.
In addition to governance reviews I have helped Universities modernise their Instruments and Articles of Governance or Charter & Statutes. I have also developed delegation frameworks covering Council, Senate and Executive delegations. I have developed governance regulatory frameworks and ordinances for Universities.
