Commencing with a role in quality assurance with what was then BTEC, Kathryn has close to 35 years’ experience in the tertiary education sector, including professional services roles within 5 institutions in England and Wales (including as Academic Registrar for the University of Westminster), and 2 in the greater Sydney (Australia) area, where she is now based.

Following retirement from her last senior role in the University of New South Wales, Kathryn has undertaken consultancy projects for 3 other universities, and is an active mentor with ATEM (the Australian/New Zealand sibling body to AHEP).

Kathryn has managed significant projects throughout her career, including:

  • Reviews of student administration and services
  • Development of governance models for student services and project management more generally
  • Review and introduction of a new timetabling/space scheduling process and system (including policy refresh)
  • Development of academic regulations and procedures in support of an institution’s application for degree awarding powers
  • Implementation of “friend-raising” initiatives to encourage alumni engagement
  • Provision of advice to academic teams engaged in QAA audits and subject reviews
  • Executive sponsor of the project to develop a single-point-of-contact student hub
  • Student management systems implementation and upgrades
