Paul Rowlett is a consultant and interim leader with over thirty years’ experience in UK HE. Formerly Professor, Head of School and Pro Vice Chancellor at a pre-92 university with institutional responsibility for teaching & learning, quality & standards and academic development, he has more recently provided external expertise and successfully completed assignments for Russell Group, University Alliance, specialist and alternative providers.

He has led the development and implementation of institution-wide strategies and frameworks for the curriculum and student experience, as well as sustainability and sport. Specific academic-development projects focused on degree apprenticeships, condensed sandwich degrees, credit frameworks and international pathway programmes, regional partnerships and collaborative provision.

He has undertaken reviews of areas of academic provision and led strategic change projects and policy developments in support of the academic student experience, e.g., curriculum information management, electronic management of assessment, lecture capture, library refurbishment, academic regulations, model operating model for professional services, international business development. Much of this work has involved facilitating extensive stakeholder engagement.

He has produced TEF, REF, APP and post-registration enhanced monitoring submissions to HEFCE/OfS, as well as quality assurance submissions to Pearson Education Ltd.

He has led academic and professional-service departments – including significant organisational change and collective and individual consultation – establishing mission and vision and overseeing strategic, financial and operational planning.
