Penny Sweasey, PFHEA, SFSEDA, is an expert in HE Academic and Staff Development, Inclusive Pedagogy and Curriculum Design, focusing on high-quality inclusive learning experiences.

Penny’s expertise as an independent consultant in HE covers working with individuals, with groups of academic leaders, and multi-functional teams. Penny has designed and delivered teaching, professional development and consultancy across thematic areas including inclusive curriculum, diversity and equality in learning and teaching, assessment, practice-led educational scholarship, programme leadership, curriculum development and project management. She is course leader for the online SEDA Supporting and Leading Educational Change international programme.

From 2012 to 2019 Penny was Head of CELT at MMU leading provision of pedagogic enhancement, academic staff development, and curriculum improvement, F2F and online PGCert and MA LTHE, HEA Accredited MMU PSF Scheme, FLEX CPD and targeted support for programme review, design and evaluation.

In 2018-9, she led the UA Teaching Excellence Alliance (TEA) developing CPD, resources and networking activity, including the SEDA Award-winning SANDPIT events.

Since November 2019 Penny has been leading short-term project supporting a PVC Academic with rapid development for TDAP, web development, programme leader support and assessment practice and policy.

Penny has written several SEDA Accredited Online programmes, including for QUB, where she is an external advisor for their Teaching Awards. She is the External for Keele’s Teaching Innovations Scheme, an external on UKPSF panels at Coventry, Greenwich, and LJMU, and has provided expert professional development workshops at Universities of South Wales, Portsmouth, Kingston, Teesside, Oxford Brookes, Arden and UCLAN. Penny is an Advisor for CPD schemes, an external for PGCert programmes, a reviewer for HE pedagogy journals, an Advance HE Associate and Independent Assessor for the Academic Professional Apprenticeship.
