Peter Tinson has over thirty years’ experience as an IT professional in the Higher Education sector, both as a practitioner and as head of ucisa, the UK’s Higher Education IT association.
Peter’s work has given him an extensive knowledge of the application of IT in universities and colleges including the implementation and operation of university business systems, the use of technology in teaching and the development of policies and operational procedures.
Peter has a strong customer focus having led a professional membership organisation and having managed customer facing IT services. He has taken part in advisory boards for several organisations including Jisc, HESA and the University of Oxford, and has acted as an expert reviewer and auditor for IT service functions. Peter has worked with a broad range of professionals including members of the Civil Service, Higher Education agencies, other professional associations and all levels of staff within universities and colleges. His experience has allowed him to speak and write on topics as diverse as the value of data, leadership, information security and future IT development.
