Charles Buckley (PhD, NTF, PFHEA) is an Independent Consultant with over 30 years of experience as a strategic leader in a number of UK universities. Charles is widely recognised for his expertise in leading change projects, pedagogic research, mentoring, excellence in academic development and supporting senior colleagues towards success in achieving Principal Fellowship, National Teaching Fellowship awards and mentoring CATE teams. He is a Global Accreditor with Advance HE as well as an Accreditation Reviewer. In addition, he is an Honorary member of staff at the University of Liverpool where he acts as Teaching Excellence Award Lead and PhD supervisor, SEDA Executive member, Co-Chair Scholarship and Research Committee, Member at Large Recognition Committee ISSOTL and Visiting Professor at Arden University. He has extensive experience of quality assurance having been an external examiner for 20 programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level and is a qualified facilitator for Advance HE’s Degree Standards Project.
Specific consultancy foci include:
- Supporting teams and organisations in the areas of staff development and recognition.
- Delivering webinars for staff and mentoring colleagues towards all categories of fellowship (D1-D4); National Teaching Fellowship awards and teams applying for the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence.
- Research and SOTL: workshops and webinars in qualitative analysis; mentoring pedagogic enquiry projects and supervision and examination of doctoral projects.
