Data Potentials is a consultancy company unlocking organisations information, data and privacy potential. Dr David Reeve, our CEO and Director, is a highly experienced information & data management and data protection professional with over 20 years’ experience. He is currently the vice chair and from May 2026 the chair of the UK Information and Record Management Society.
We work closely with senior stakeholders and teams across institutions, influencing decision-making and driving the implementation of best practice information & data management, data protection, data exploitation and governance. We support institutions to create sector-leading services and innovation, improving student services, data led business analytics and compliance to achieve world beating digital and data technology culture.
Building on core information, records & data management and privacy principles, we drive strategy to ensure effective management of data through its lifecycle whilst ensuring compliance with legislation, enabling data led business transformation backed by information and data systems, policies, and procedures and preparing for AI readiness.

Dr David Reeve worked in local government for 24 years before joining Jisc as Head of Information, Data and Analytics in 2015.
This role included acting as data protection officer implementing the UK GDPR in 2018. He gave advice and guidance to the Tertiary sector during the implementation of the UK GDPR. He also worked with a former colleague at Jisc and the ICO to create a mental Health Code of Practice for the HE and FE Sector as part of the ICO’s prestigious Sandbox Project.
Data Potentials was established in November 2022, and clients include universities (creating a Data Strategy and data governance framework) and currently with GEANT where we are implementing an enterprise Microsoft 365 intranet, SharePoint document library and migration programme.
