Sarah Wilson-Medhurst (SWM Consulting) is an independent HE Consultant and Researcher. As a scientist who moved from working in industry into higher education first as a lecturer, Sarah draws on over two decades of experience as a leader, researcher, mentor, advisor and teacher in computing and engineering education, change enablement and educational leadership. She is a long-time champion of activity-led, technology enhanced pedagogical innovation and creating the environments in which advanced learning and teaching practices can thrive whatever the discipline/learning context. Her work and experience also involve the design of monitoring and evaluation plans and frameworks; evaluation of projects, programmes and organisational entities to explore their value and impact.
Sarah applies a systems thinking lens to her leadership, consultancy and research work to enable sustainable, responsible and inclusive educational transformation. She has led successful applications under the Erasmus+ and other programmes including research projects funded by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering and the national HE STEM programme in the UK. While she has significant experience in STEM education she has also worked in cross institutional leadership roles and draws on a values-led, collaborative and complex systems leadership stance in her interim leadership work and in her coaching and mentoring offer with mid-level to senior leaders. The latter is particularly focussed on those seeking to gain senior or principal fellowship of HEA as well as those pursuing teaching award recognition for their work individually or in teams. Sarah is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE (PFHEA) and Member of British Computer Society (MBCS).
